    3. Time Is Running Out
    see related

Wait, why am I still awake?

Oh yeah. Peppermint mocha. And Pepsi. And chocolate.

And that article I'm supposed to be writing.

The one-page article I've been "working on" since 11 o'clock. So far I have a Word document saved on my computer, a tentative outline, and a bunch of pictures of me and my roommates pretending we're in Harry Potter doing wizard duels and making things fly and stuff. Yes, we are awesome; how did you guess? Also, this Xanga post.

Anyway, that's my update for today.

  • Conversation after supper

    It went something like this...

Mom: These cow mein noodles have gone rancid.
    Dad: Well, throw them away!
    Mom: Yeah, I am.
Dad: I ate them. Am I going to die?
Mom: No, rancidity just takes the nutrients out and makes them taste bad.
Dad: They sure did taste bad. I ate them, and now I'm going to die.
Mom: Well, you're going to die, just not for a while.

I'm so glad to be home.
(And yes, this is one of those you-had-to-be-there things. Which is why I'm so glad to be here.)

    UPDATE!

I feel that it's time for a Xanga update. Like, a real one where I tell cyberspace how my life is going.

I spent all weekend avoiding homework that took me about an hour to complete. Procrastination win! Due to all this avoiding, however, my other homework has piled up to quite a staggering height. At times while I was procrastinating this weekend I seriously doubted my ability to last out the semester, but I intend to persevere!

I've been listening to good music. (Well, obviously it's good or I wouldn't waste my time listening to it.) As previously mentioned, Amazon has a bunch of mp3 albums for $5, so I got me some Bon Iver. I have also been listening to lots of Pandora and Snow Patrol. Go me.

In class today, the teacher kept us late to pray and thank God for the Pilgrims and their Indian friends who sat down and had dinner with them after teaching them to plant corn. Literally. I had to come back to my room and play some Keane to clear my brain.

I really want a hot fudge brownie a la mode. Really. Doesn't that sound delicious? Applebee's has lovely hot fudge brownie a la modes. Alas, I have no brownies. Only homework.

And with that, back to work.

  • The yellow fog that rubs its back upon the window-panes,
The yellow smoke that rubs its muzzle on the window-panes
Licked its tongue into the corners of the evening,
Lingered upon the pools that stand in drains,
Let fall upon its back the soot that falls from chimneys,
Slipped by the terrace, made a sudden leap,
And seeing that it was a soft October night,
Curled once about the house, and fell asleep.
